Touchy Subject is a Senior Capstone Documentary that explores the taboo topic of masturbation and the shame that is inevitably tied to it, especially for women and people raised in female bodies. Through intimate interviews, female college students reflect on their experiences with sex education, masturbation, and shame. Gender, sex, sexuality, religion, and more allow the film and its viewers to ponder why sex education does not leave room for pleasure and the consequences of that. In what sex education around America lacks, Touchy Subject dives into, focusing on those who are not seen in curricula and media. With only four subjects, the film is able to encompass a universal experience that is rarely named. Touchy Subject argues that it should be.
